INITIATIVES
Upstanders Canada provides entry points for allyship.
Our initiatives are premised on the knowledge that big social change happens in concentric circles that begin with one-on-one and small group conversations.
Please explore our offerings and find the avenue to allyship that is right for you!
BE AN UPSTANDER TOOLKIT
This new, innovative resource helps Canadians recognize the many forms antisemitism can take, especially those types of inherent bias that we may not even be aware we carry. Download it, or read online. Learn and share.
ALLY ACTION ENGINE
We are creating a one-stop shop to make allyship accessible and actionable for Canadians. This centralized space will offer meaningful ways to engage with Jewish life, learning, and solidarity — and empower users to take informed, impactful steps to stand with Jewish people and Israel. It comprised two main components: Facts, a curated database of the finest resources on Jewish-related topics, and Acts, a portal for getting involved in standing with the Jewish people and Israel.
LAUNCHING SOON! BE SURE YOU ARE ON OUR MAILING LIST FOR LATEST DETAILS
UPSTANDERS IDEA LOUNGE
A book club – without all the reading! Upstanders Idea Lounge invites participants to come together in a welcoming, inclusive online discussion group focused on specific books, excerpts and concepts. For Jews and non-Jewish allies feeling isolated and needing to connect, this is a monthly opportunity to come together with positivity to explore meaningful ideas.
ASK A JEW
Based on the “Human Library” model, Ask A Jew fosters empathy, understanding, and honest dialogue between Jewish and non-Jewish Canadians through direct, personal conversations.
BE AN UPSTANDER CERTIFICATION
Based on our Be An Upstander Toolkit, we are developing a curriculum to empower ordinary Canadians to lead challenging conversations about antisemitism. Individuals will be equipped to deliver this program to their friend groups, congregations, union locals, classrooms, service clubs, workplaces and any group of interested Canadians. Participants in the program can then volunteer to become facilitators, creating concentric circles of impact.
WHAT YOUR JEWISH FRIENDS WISH YOU KNEW
This standalone story-sharing platform offers non-Jewish audiences a way to “meet” Jewish people through authentic narratives — while reducing the emotional labour often expected of Jews to educate others about antisemitism, identity, and history. WYJFWYK will be a powerful, heartfelt destination for non-Jews who genuinely seek to understand the Jewish experience in the 21st century.
